Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is the most important terminal for the new Jeddah airport. Because of the shape of the new terminal this is the main port of entrance for the airport. That is why the centre of gravity of the shops will be at this terminal. Passengers who arrive with all other sorts of transportation will enter in terminal 1, also the ones which have to go to terminal 2 and 3 because the people movers are in the end of the terminal. This means that the passengers have to travel via all the shops, which will be lined up next to the wall in the middle of the terminal. The terminal will have all the facilities that a modern shopping mall has. Also will it be a conference place for meetings, which means that there will be a big conference centre. There will be a hotel (airside) for the passengers with a long transfer time. The VIP lounge will also be in terminal 1, this is very important because Saudi Arabia is a rich country, and a country where are a lot of businesses so there will be a big demand for lounges. Besides that there will be the more regular stores, supermarkets, restaurants, jewelleries, electronical stores etc. Especially the last two sort stores will be important for Jeddah, because the richer people will have a big interest in these kinds of stores.

Terminal 3

A small part of terminal 3 is reserved for low cost carriers. In order to calculate a low price for airport charges to these carriers there will not be a lot of facilities in this part of the terminal. The retail will be minimal, a small shop for the basic needs of the passengers, a coffee shop and a shop for breads etcetera.

  

Marketing to the outside world

We advice Jeddah Airport to have a better relation with their customers. They do have site (but with no flight times, only aimed at the construction of the new airport) and a Facebook page, but in order to become a leading international airport. For customers it is very important to have information about their flights, to have their questions answered etcetera. That is why Jeddah Airport really needs to invest in a good and clear site with relevant information for the passengers. Interactive sites would be even better, think about social media like Facebook and Twitter. With using these social media Jeddah Airport gets better customer relations.

Also Jeddah Airport must show the plans of the new to build terminal to the local people, to show them what their profit is with the project. The predictions are that there will be an increase of over 120% of local economy growth. The communication is therefore very, very important to show them the benefits of the project.
