Runway Layout

The taxiway layout is divided into three phases that match the phases of the terminals. To fit the capacity of the terminal the centre runway 16C/34C will be extended with 300 meters. The taxiways that are needed for phase one are close to the runways, terminal one and the north part of terminal three (see the blue part of the runway layout). Furthermore an extension of the Hajj apron is needed to fulfil capacity. For the cargo and maintenance only half of the total capacity will be ready in phase one. In phase two the south part of terminal three will be ready, as need to be the taxiways around it. The other half of the cargo and maintenance capacity will be reached and therefore six more aprons are added. For the last phase only terminal three is of importance and the taxiway around it.

The numbering of the taxiways are as followed phasing the image with runway 16L/34R above, 16C/34C in the middle and 16R/34L on the bottom. Starting with numbering the horizontal taxiways with letters, at the bottom with A and ending at the top with M. Continuing with the vertical taxiways from left to right from the letter N to Z. Taxiway Y and Z connecting the cargo apron 34 are an exception, because these are horizontal but will be built in the second phase so the numbering will be adjusted later. Only the taxiways that will connect the runways are numbered with a letter and a number. Starting numbering at the beginning of terminal one and the royal terminal. The other side of their high speed taxiways are numbered in the opposite direction. Crossing points between taxiways, not runways, are named with two letters. Numbered the same way as the high speed taxiways, starting closest to terminal one and the royal terminal. The aprons are close to the terminals are numbered with uneven on the top side and even on the bottom side.
